Hodgkinson achieved her fastest time of 1:54.61 the previous season in the British capital.

The Olympic champion concluded her two-lap season with a win at the all-female Athlos meet in New York on Friday evening.

{The reigning Olympic gold medallist, who secured bronze at the global championships last month, dominated an impressive victory in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a year affected by a hamstring injury.

Fellow Briton and world silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell took the runner-up spot once more in 1:58.33, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua M. (one minute 58.57) secured third place.

"I've barely raced this year so it was probably less of a struggle for me to go out there and want to give it something," stated the 23-year-old.

"The atmosphere out there is crazy so it was really, really fun."

The female-exclusive meet filled the stadium in its second year, bringing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting traditional winners' medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena Williams, who is married to Athlos founder Alexis O., was on hand to award the victors with their tiaras.

Last year's winners took home $60,000 (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in track and field.

The event also drew several top athletes, as the Kenyan triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith K. won the mile, finishing in 4:17.78.

The US Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze winner from the recent Paris Games, secured the 100m and 200m double.
