In the wake of Europe's recent men's golf championship triumph, England Golf is calling on the government to support its bid to organize the Solheim Cup on English soil for the first time.

This renowned contest pitting the best women players from Europe and America has taken place twice in Scotland as well as once in Wales but never in England. An official proposal has been assembled to hold it at The Grove within Hertfordshire in 2030.

But planners require thirty million pounds to finance the bid and currently only £10m has been secured. England Golf is urgently seeking public backing to guarantee the funding gap.
