Diving into an Unique Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop on a Quest to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have discovered plenty of entertaining indie games. But, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure features a hero that is literally a turd attempting to navigate to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: you only need a one button to leap. In 150 challenges, encounter mini-bosses and unlock a market to purchase skins for your dung hero.

Execute your jumps with caution, since one wrong move forces restarting the level. Jump using air pockets to propel your character higher, traverse crumbling surfaces, and activate buttons to unlock secret routes. Gather coins and use them on challenging game content as the action ramps up.

Graphically, the demo shows off eye-catching level designs and catchy music score. The simple visual style featuring morphing geometric shapes may remind gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though tough to think of previous releases where you play as a dung character, gaming frequently incorporated fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from character droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as plant food. Naturally, fecal references is present heavily in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive awards, like taking top honors at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. A playable preview is accessible currently on Steam, with the full game planned to debut on Steam this November.
